What were your first impressions?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A new pair of waterproof trousers was on my must-have list for this winter, so I was very excited to try these Venture Trousers from Ariat. The first thing I noticed about these trousers was the fabric. It feels more like a softshell material compared to traditional waterproof styles and is very low noise – no more annoying rustling! I also really liked the look of the patterned grip seat as it felt like it would be very secure, without having a ‘sticky’ feel to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How was the sizing and the fit?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As I planned to wear these trousers both alone and layered over my breeches or walking trousers, I opted for the medium. Usually taking a UK10-12 in legwear and at just under 5ft8, I found this to be the perfect fit in length and around my waist. I had room around the waistband to tuck in a jumper, but the handy addition of belt loops meant that when worn alone I could add a belt to easily adjust the fit. The high-waisted cut meant they were extremely comfortable to wear and ensured there was no ‘gap’ between them and the bottom of my jacket. As far as waterproof trousers go, they are very flattering, as the legs are tapered slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you test the product?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In lots of rain, wind, and more rain! The first time I wore these trousers was out walking in the mountains in Scotland during November. Even in strong winds and hail showers, the Venture Trousers kept me warm and dry all day long. Since then I have worn the trousers out riding, mainly hacking during the winter months, and on more walks when rain has been forecast. They have been exceptionally reliable, and still look like new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was your favourite feature?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The waterproof zips that run from the ankles to the knees made putting these on and taking them off possible while wearing my riding boots. It was also very handy when out walking as when I got warm (usually when heading uphill!) I could unzip these to increase ventilation to cool down without having to remove a layer of clothing. The popper fastenings at the base of the zips meant the trousers still retained a good shape, even with the zips open. Other great details include the two generously sized waterproof pockets and the reflective Ariat logo on the leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any other comments?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been very impressed with these trousers so I would confidently recommend them to anyone else looking to replace their existing waterproof trousers. As the Venture Trousers have been so high performing, I am certainly looking to purchase the matching Venture Jacket to complete my wet weather outfit.<\/p>\n\n\n
