We caught up with 24-year-old Redpost Rider Chloe Reynolds from Somerset to find out everything you could want to know about the life of a top showjumper.

Who are your top horses?

My top three horses at the moment are Grenadier Volo, Jappeloup and Kiss By Balia. Grenadier Volo is a Dutch warmblood by Numero Uno x Quidam De Revel. He’s known as Uno at home and he’s owned by my mum. He loves what he does!

Jappeloup is an 8-year-old by El Salvador. He’s owned by Kerrie Daykin and he had some good wins at the Sunshine Tour in Vilamoura at the beginning of 2022

Kiss By Balia is the youngest of the three and she is a really exciting young horse by Harley VDL. She’s feisty in the ring, but everywhere else she is the quietest horse ever, my nan rides her most mornings and helps to get her ready for shows.

When did you first start to ride?

I was riding before I could walk and then I was out hunting on a lead rein by the time I was three-years-old!

Was this always something you wanted to do?

I started competing at around six years old and this is all i’ve ever wanted to do – I’m living the dream!

What are your 5 favourite products from Redpost

Redpost Tee
  • Tucci boots – I love these to ride in. They’re stylish and comfortable, just what I need if I’m spending a long time in the saddle.
  • Euro-star Equitation Queen Full Grip Breeches – I love these for everyday riding, they’re super stretchy and the water-resistant outer fabric stops me from feeling damp in wetter weather.
  • Flex-On Stirrups – I have these on all my saddles, they make me feel super secure in the saddle.
  • Protexin Gut Balancer – I’ve seen such a difference with my horses on this supplement!
  • Redpost Tee – Obviously, this is a staple and supersoft. I love wearing it whatever I’m doing if it’s around the yard or to ride in.

What is your most memorable horse-riding moment?

It has to be winning The Big Star 6yo Championship on Grenadier Volo

Where is your favourite place to compete

I love Olympia. The atmosphere is unmatched!

Can you run us through how you prepare for the big shows?

Before a big show I make sure the horses are as fit and well as they can be and all our training has been relevant to the height each horse will be competing it. I like to ensure that all the horses are freshly clipped and bathed and that they are feeling their best in every way. If it is a long stay away show, I usually increase their hard feed and electrolytes in the lead up in preparation for the extra exertion.

What type of off-horse activities have you found to have helped your riding the most over the years

I believe it is important for me as a rider to be as fit as possible in order to be able to help my horses the most. I aim to run regularly and try to fit in as many gym sessions as possible per week.

What advice have you been given that has stuck with you the most?

You only get out what you put in, there are no shortcuts to success.

Who has been the most special horse in your riding career so far and why?

Without a doubt Grenadier Volo. Having arrived as a 3yo, he has gone on to win the British 4yo Championship, British 5yo Championship, then being selected to jump for GB at the World Championships. Won the Big Star National 6yo Championship. Selected for the Young Riders Nations Cup Team, qualifying for the U25 championship at Olympia, as well as winning me untold other championships, 1.40s and GPs throughout his career so far and taking me round my first World Ranking class.

Who is your greatest inspiration

I am a big fan of Kent Farringtons riding, training and horses

What are your goals for the next 5 years

I aim to be riding at my best and producing horses to the very best of their abilities and would love to make a senior nations cup team and importantly, to continue to be happy and successful in the sport
