About the product

A softer option than a conventional snaffle, the Bombers Lock Up Loose Ring Bit applies tongue and bar pressure when the reigns are taken up but prevents the nutcracker action of conventional single jointed bits.

The Loose Ring allows for immediate release and relief from the tongue and bar pressure – the bit is immediately reset to a neutral position in the horse’s mouth.

What were your first impressions?

“I was impressed with the design of the bit as it has a double locking system and a generous curved mouthpiece. I was eager to try this out on my thoroughbred who is quite sensitive in his mouth.”

How was the sizing & fit?

“I sized down a quarter inch and this gave a perfect fit.”

How did you test the product?

“I tested this product by continuing with Hugo’s usual daily training so I could compare the difference it has made. This bit did what I was looking for in a new bit. As Hugo is a thoroughbred he is naturally built downhill and struggles to lift himself up onto his hinds without overbending. I found that the double locking system gave a correct and even tongue pressure even when the reins were taken up. I found this particularly good for Hugo as he is very sensitive in the mouth.”

What was your favourite feature?

“I really like that the bit is coated in sweet iron. I found that as the bit stared to rust with use, Hugo would accept it more and settle into his contact easier.”
