Oliver Tuff is based just down the road from Redpost HQ. Ollie is jumping at CSI3* and CSI4* level and runs a professional schooling and jumping yard with the help of his mum and dad.
Who are your Top Horses?
My top 4 horses at the moment are Aishwarya, Felix X, Luidam’s Warrior and Rita 7. Aishwarya, Felix X and Luidam’s warrior are all competitive horses in the CSI2* classes and Rita 7 had a great year last year competing in the CSIYH1*.
When did you first start to ride?
I’ve been riding pretty much since I was born, horses definitely run in the family.
Was this something you always wanted to do?
Yes, 100%. My parents have been so supportive and helpful to make this a career for me. I couldn’t do it without them.
What are your 5 favourite products from Redpost
- LeMieux Elite Classic Pleated Knee Grip Mens Breeches – I really like these as I has a hand in designing them with LeMieux. They fit really nicely and are a great casual breech.
- Flex-On Green Composite Stirrups – I love these are they are so comfortable and I never have to worry about losing my stirrup.
- Charles Owen AYR8 Hat – I really like the fit of these hats and find they look very traditional and smart.
- Parlanti Denver/S Adults Tall Riding Boots – They are very comfortable boots and made to last, I ride 6-8 horses most days and they are still going strong!
- LeMieux Elite Mens Waterproof Puffer Jacket – It’s a very warm and dry always looks good.
What is your most memorable moment?
Winning the HOYs Foxhunter Championship. It’s one of the most prestigious national classes in the country so it was such a special moment and I had my whole family around me to celebrate. It was amazing.
Can you run us through how you prepare for the big shows?
I make sure that the horses are as fit as possible but still fresh in their mind, so they feel excited to perform.
What types of off-horse activities have you found to have helped your riding the most over the years?
I really enjoy playing football, it keeps me fit and it’s nice to get to play in a team.
What advice have you been given that has stuck with you the most?
Patience, never rush a horse when it’s learning.
Who has been the most special horse in your riding career so far and why?
It has to be Darino B. I jumped and won my first Grand Prix class on him. I won the Foxhunter Final on him and many other results. He was a great horse for me and really got my name out there.
Who is your greatest riding inspiration?
John Whitaker and Marcus Ehning are the two greatest of all time in my opinion.
What are your goals for the next 5 years?
My biggest goal would be to be jumping at the top level.
