What were your first impressions?
I loved how soft the leather was brand new. I could really feel the quality just in my hand and the contrast colour stitching and royal oak shade leather was perfect to match with my jumping saddle so I was super pleased – as it is a bit of a unique colour!
How was the sizing & fit?
The sizing was very true to size – I had heard that they could sometimes come up a bit big but this fit my horse Jack perfectly, he wears a full in all headcollars, so it made sense for him to be a full in this. Sometimes I do have to punch additional holes in as his head can be a little short with a standard full size, but this had plenty of holes and I could really adjust the bridle to fit his head perfectly as there are buckles on both sides of all the bits of leather.
How did you test the product?
I have tested this product by riding in it to flat school and to jump. Everything just seems so comfortable especially with the anatomical headpiece and super soft leather. You can see the price reflects the quality, and I’m pleased I decided to treat us to something new!
Would you recommend to a friend?
I would definitely recommend Schockemohle bridles to a friend. They just have so many options to suit the needs of so many different horses so it really is worth having a look to find the best one for you! You can really tell that Schockemöhle care about the comfort of your horse with their products.
What was your favourite feature?
I have managed to narrow it down to two! Firstly I love the anatomical headpiece. It has one more structured band of leather through the middle but is surrounded by a really soft padded bit of leather where it sits behind your horses ears and the edge of their neck – just to maximise comfort and minimise pressure points! I then also loved how adjustable the bridle was with buckles on both sides for the nosebands and throat lash – it really meant I could get the perfect fit – which can only be a good thing!
Any other comments?
I’m just super pleased I decided to do it – I think you can’t put a price on your horses’ comfort and the Schockemöhle Tokyo Bridle is definitely a vast improvement from the bridle I was using before and is a really eye-catching piece!
