About the tester: Chloe is the proud owner of 24-year-old Toffee, a 14.1hh bay gelding, and together they compete in showjumping and cross-country events.

About the product: The LeMieux Vector Balance Safety Stirrups are machined from aviation-grade aluminium, for a lightweight stirrup offering stability and strength. With a spring-loaded safety arm and shock-absorbing footbed, these stirrups are suitable for all riders across the disciplines.

What were your first impressions? “These are smart-looking stirrups, and I like how they’ve got the spikes on the footbed to keep the foot secure in the stirrup. I was a little skeptical that the shock absorbers would work for what I wanted!”

How was the sizing and fit? “The stirrups are on the narrow side, which means if you had chunky boots they might be too narrow. I’m a size 6 and they are fine for me, but it’s definitely important to check the size guide.

How did you test the product? I used them for hacking, schooling, and jumping. These stirrups were recommend to me to help with joint pain when hacking and schooling. I haven’t tested the safety release arm yet, but it seems like it will do the job!

What was your favourite feature? I love the shock absorbers – they really do relieve joint pressure. The spikes also give a secure feeling, like your foot is glued to the stirrup.

Any other comments? I’m really impressed with them. Hacking and jumping is much less sore on my knees and I lose my stirrups less. My lower leg is more secure too. Plus, they wipe clean easily which is a super bonus!
