About the product

The ThinLine Busy Buddy fastens to your horse’s headcollar or bridle and is the ultimate calming tool. Made from elasticated rope and hospital-grade latex, the ThinLine Busy Buddy helps to distract your horse, and encourages them to naturally relax in stressful situations. It gently introduces the sensation of a bit in the mouth whilst encouraging relaxation and chewing, making it great for young horses.

What were your first impressions?

“When I saw this product, I thought it was a great idea and could be the perfect distraction for my 2-year-old WB colt, Quince, who is always grabbing the lead rope and wanting to play. He has not yet been bitted so that was my only reserve regarding trying this product. However, after seeing and feeling how flexible and soft the product is, I decided it wouldn’t make a difference as he already puts the lead rope in his mouth and it isn’t fixed like a bit would be.”

How was the sizing & fit?

“I found you weren’t able to adjust the length, so in order to make sure it didn’t sit too low in his mouth I did have to attach further up on the head collar compared to the photo on the packet. However, because it isn’t a bit it can’t be too long or short in the mouth, it is just purely where it sits.”

How did you test the product?

“I’ve tested the product by using it when leading Quince to and from the field and when fly spraying to help distract him. I’ve set the headcollar up with the Busy Buddy to be taken on and off like a bridle would to help when he is older and ready to start learning more. So far, it’s going very well, and he opens his mouth when I go to put the headcollar on, ready for the Busy Buddy to go in his mouth. Then he is distracted playing with it.”

What was your favourite feature?

How soft and flexible it is. It is perfect to start introducing something in the mouth with a young horse whose teeth are also changing etc.
