About the tester: Molly is a sales assistant here at Redpost who enjoys competing in British Showjumping competitions on her horse Mojo.

About the product: This hoof oil provides a show-ring shine and helps maintain healthy hooves with a carefully formulated combination of pine tar oil and mineral oil.

What were your first impressions? “The Hoof Oil was of thin consistency meaning it was very easy and smooth to apply. The tin was also sturdier than others I have used in the past meaning it didn’t leak in my tack box”

How did you test the product? “I tested the product on both my horses who have very different hooves. I first tried it on Nelly who in the summer often gets dry hooves and they occasionally crack. I used the hoof oil every day on her over the trial period and could already see how her hooves looked much more moisturised and no new cracks had appeared. I will continue to use the hoof oil for her over the remainder of the summer.

I also used the hoof oil on my show jumping horse Mojo. Unlike Nelly he has never had any issues with dry hooves, but over this particularly dry spell of weather I decided to apply the oil about three times a week to keep them moisturised. But for Mojo the main use was to make his hooves shine in the ring which this product did without looking like an artificial paint over his hooves”

What was your favourite feature? “I really liked the neutral colour of the hoof oil. Personally, I am not a fan of painting hooves deep black, so I liked how the product gave a neutral shine and therefore can be used on any colour hooves.”

Any other comments? “Overall, the product is of great value and can be used on a variety of horses. Looking to winter I will use the Daily Hoof Barrier for wet conditions also from the Carr and Day and Martin range.”
