Chloe is Redpost’s shop manager and with 3 horses of her own (Daisy, Euros, and a Shetland called Sergio), she is always on the go.

Made from perforated neoprene with a 4-way stretch to fit like a second skin, the Equilibrium Equi-Chaps Close Contact Turnout Chaps help to prevent mud fever and keep you horse’s legs clean and dry when in the field

The turnout chaps are perfect for any horse out in the field; all my horses live out 24/7 and, although we don’t have loads of mud, there is always mud available where horses are involved! Euros is a bit of a character and often shows off his moves in the field, I have often worried about his legs and any injuries. The turnout chaps are easy to purchase by using the sizing guide to ensure the correct fit.

Euros measured as the medium size and fit perfectly to him. Initially it was a little tricky to fit the chaps onto the horse’s legs and get them in the exact place, it took me a couple of attempts to have the chaps fit snug to the legs and all the velcro in the exact place but once they were on, and checked, they are then really easy to get on and off and put back on in the right place on the leg as they mould to the leg and the contours of the leg.

Euros lives out 24/7 in a herd of 4, they don’t come in everyday but do get checked daily, given feed/rug changes and some breathing time without the chaps on. I was worried that the mud may go up under the chaps and cause irritation but, in the weeks of wearing them, this hasn’t happened once. I was also worried that he would be able to pull them off while cavorting round the field but they have stayed exactly where they should! One of the main benefits of the chaps for me is the material of them, as I don’t have stables it can be difficult to get the horses clean/dry to have rugs back on so I was concerned about putting turnout chaps on after riding. The material of the chaps means that they don’t cause irritation if the legs aren’t 100% clean/dry and there is no hanging around waiting to put them on.

My favourite feature is you can easily wash them off and they dry really quickly, so they are dry and ready to go back on by the time I have ridden and done chores! The velcro is staying really sticky and not struggling with all the mud so the chaps are staying put nicely and adding the extra protection (and peace of mind!) that we need.
