The Myler 3-Ring Combination Sweet Iron Low Port Mullen Barrel Bit features the Myler MB06 mouth piece, which is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts and promotes salivation.
This mouth piece is non-collapsing, great for the young-minded horse who needs a stronger signal at times. The cleverly designed port allows some tongue room, but will rotate onto the tongue when a contact is applied if the rider needs a stronger signal.
The MB 06 mouth piece does not does not collapse in the horse's mouth, meaning the port does not reduce in width, but it rotates onto the tongue slightly quicker than the lower level mouth pieces.
The Combination Bit is designed to initially act on the nose, poll and back of the jaw. The total pressure applied by the rider is shared over these 3 areas. If the rider increases pressure on the contact, the mouthpiece is engaged, as it moves up against a little ‘stop’ on the cheek ring and activates on the tongue and bars like a “normal” mouthpiece.
At this point, the pressure exerted by the rider is spread over 5 areas; the nose, poll, jaw, tongue and the bars, each receiving only 1/5 of the pressure the rider puts into the rein.
Because all pressure areas engage and release at the same time, it means the horse is offered a pressure-free reward whenever he is relaxed at the poll.
