The Airowear Shadow Ladies' Back Protector is a great choice for riders who choose not to wear a traditional body protector but are seeking a lighter alternative that offers protection over their back.

Certified to motorcycle back protector standard EN1621-2-2014 and exclusively engineered for the equestrian, this back protector helps to protect against impacts during a fall. Shaped to follow your figure, this design allows superb freedom of movement and can be discreetly worn underneath a show jacket during competition for those wanting extra protection over their central back and scapulae.

Further features of the Shadow include a machine washable cover and secure central zip fastening.

Safety Standards: Certified to EN1621-2-2014

Please note, this Back Protector only covers the back. It does not offer rib protection or prevent injuries involving severe torsion, flexion, and extension or crushing of the body.

    • Back length: This is the measurement of the back protector pad. When seated in the saddle, measure from the nape of your neck to approximately 7cm above the point of the saddle. This will confirm the back length is suitable and will not interfere with the saddle when riding.

  • Does this meet the new equestrian safety standards for 2024?

    Hi Paula, The Airowear Shadow is a back protector designed to protect the back and does not provide any protection to the front of the chest, so it is not classed as a body protector. This means it does not meet the current safety standards for a body protector and is not suitable for cross country riding. It does have the motorcycle back protector standard EN1621-2-2014.
